Daryle Freeman   
Head Director of Choirs

Mr. Daryle Freeman is in his fourth year as Director of Choir here at Oak. He is a native of Lake Charles, Louisiana. He comes from a family of musicians so his path to being a music teacher was set early in his life.  Mr. Freeman is a graduate of Jackson State University where he earned his Bachelor's and Master's in music education. While at JSU, Mr. Freeman studied under Dr. Elestine Perkins Holy, Dr. Phyllis Lewis-Hale, and Mr. W.C. Castilla. Mr. Freeman is in his nineteenth year of teaching. His choirs have received consistent sweepstakes and division-one ratings at UIL. His choirs have also traveled across the USA including Honolulu, Hi, Los Angeles, CA, New York City, NY, and Orlando, FL. Mr. Freeman's choirs have also performed with the Houston Symphony Orchestra, at the University of Houston's Choir Invitational, and Houston Chamber Choir's Hear The Future Concert. Mr. Freeman has been a clinician for many choirs in the Houston area and he is very excited about being here at Klein Oak High School. His philosophy of education is that every student can and should receive a quality education, especially in music.

Melissa Dightman
Associate Director of Choirs

Mrs. Dightman is in her 1st year as Associate Director of Choirs here at Oak. She is a native of Galveston, Tx. Mrs. Dightman began her music educator career in Early Childhood and elementary in LaMarque, TX. She then later became the assistant choral director at Eisenhower HS in Houston, TX. While she served at Eisenhower as the assistant, she received multiple Sweepstakes awards with her junior varsity choir. She later was promoted to be the head choral director at Nimitz Sr. High School and continued to receive the same achievements with her varsity level choirs.
 
Melissa served as the interim choral director at her alma mater Prairie View A&M University. She is a member of TMEA, TCDA, Delta Sigma Theta Sorority Inc., and Junior League of The Woodlands.
